Walk in display glass door chiller room

A walk in display glass door cold room, also known as a “replenishment cold storage” or “restocking cold storage,” is a refrigeration unit that integrates storage and display functions. It is widely used in convenience stores, gas station shops, and supermarkets. Its core feature is the “front store, back warehouse” model: customers retrieve goods through a transparent glass door at the front, while staff replenish and organize stock at the back (inside) of the storage unit.

1. Core Working Principle

This cold storage design is based on the “First-In, First-Out” (FIFO) principle:

Replenishment: Newly arrived beverages or food are replenished from the shelves at the back of the cold storage.

Retrieval: The shelves are typically sloped (slide-backed shelves), causing goods to slide to the front due to gravity, ensuring that customers always receive the items that have been cooled for the longest time.

2. Key Advantages

High Space Utilization: Combining the display cases and storage room eliminates the need for multiple independent refrigerated units in the store, significantly increasing sales area.

Replenishment Without Disrupting Customers: Replenishment staff operate within the warehouse, without obstructing store aisles or affecting customer shopping.

Refrigeration Efficiency and Energy Saving: Compared to open display cases, the rear replenishment cold storage is a closed space, minimizing cold air loss. Furthermore, replenishment is completed inside the cold storage, avoiding temperature fluctuations caused by frequent opening of the front door.

Large Capacity: Ample storage space (positions) at the back of the cold storage allows for the storage of large quantities of inventory at once, reducing the frequency of replenishment.

3. Application Scenarios

Retail Terminals: Beverage walls and dairy product sections in convenience stores.

Gas Stations: Due to limited space, the back-supply design maximizes the use of building area.

Logistics and Distribution: Used for cold chain distribution nodes requiring rapid loading, unloading, and sorting.

4. Technical Components

A typical replenishment cold storage facility includes the following components:

Insulated Storage Body: Constructed with high-density polyurethane insulation panels.

Display Doors: Multi-layered hollow heated glass doors (anti-fog design).

Gravity Flow Shelving: Inclined design to support automatic forward sliding of goods.

Refrigeration System: Includes air coolers, compressor units, and a precise temperature control system.

This facility has become standard equipment in modern retail, serving as a key tool for improving store operational efficiency and ensuring food freshness.
