The core of a fresh OEM Flower Cold Room
3 facility is constant temperature, constant humidity, low airflow, and zoned design, with a focus on preventing petals from freezing, losing moisture, and mold. The following analysis will cover parameters, storage structure, equipment, processes, and cost.
I. Core Parameters (by Flower Type)
Temperate Flowers: 2–5℃, Humidity 85%–95%
Tropical Flowers: 12–15℃, Humidity 85%–90%
Bulbs: -1–0℃, Humidity 80%–90%
Key: Temperature difference within the storage ≤ ±0.5℃, wind speed ≤ 0.3m/s (direct wind blowing on petals is strictly prohibited)
1) Warehouse Type Selection
Assembled Type (Recommended): Polyurethane (PU) panels.
Civil Engineering Type: Suitable for very large warehouses, but with long construction periods and high costs; not recommended for small projects.
2) Enclosure and Flooring
Walls/Roof: 100–150mm PU panels, double-sided color steel/stainless steel, sealant + eccentric hook locks, leak-proof and moisture-proof.
Floor: Compacted → Moisture-proof layer (PE film) → 100mm extruded polystyrene board → Reinforced concrete → Epoxy flooring, load-bearing capacity ≥ 3 tons/m², slip-resistant and corrosion-resistant.
Buffer Zone: Essential! Prevents condensation and cold damage to floral materials when there is a large temperature difference between inside and outside; 2–8℃ transition.
Equipment System (Four Major Components + Intelligent Control)
1) Refrigeration Unit
Type: Variable frequency scroll compressor (Bitzer compressor/Copeland compressor), COP≥3.5, hot gas defrosting (avoids the overheating of electric defrosting).

Evaporative Cooler: Low air velocity, large heat exchange area, equipped with deflectors, cool air “circulates” around the flowers, avoiding direct airflow.
2) Humidification/Dehumidification (Lifeline for Flowers)
Humidification: Ultrasonic humidifier (mist particles 5–10μm, no dripping), automatically starts when humidity is below 85%.
Dehumidification: Combines cooling and exhaust ventilation in high humidity conditions, prevents mold growth.
3) Ventilation and Airflow
Fresh Air: 1–2 air exchanges per day, exhausting CO₂ and ethylene (ripening gases).
Air Ducts: Top/side upper air supply, lower return air, no dead corners, no direct airflow.
4) Intelligent Control (Required) Multi-point temperature and humidity sensors (accuracy ±0.5℃/±2% RH), APP remote monitoring + alarm. Zoned and time-based control, historical data available.
